Account Receivable Representative

The position reports to the Director of Student Accounts and is responsible for accurate and timely  collection of student payments as well as providing excellent customer service and support to students and families.  The position requires experience with account receivable and areas related to debt management, accounting, and compliance in billing and collection practices.


·         Provide comprehensive customer service to all students and their families by phone, in person and through email correspondence

o     Account Balances

o     Review and explain documents needed for financial aid

·         Process and distribute on campus parking tags

·         Process and distribute book store advances

·         Process semester medical waivers

·         Accurate and timely processing of payments to student accounts received via payment plans, online through Touch Net and in person visitors

·         Review and process in a timely manner, Institutional Advancement Donor Reports

·         Explain the status of financial aid awards, expected disbursement dates and remaining balance due on a student account

·         Process qualified tuition, fees and wire payments for the Global Programs and Professional Studies Division.

·         Evening and Weekend hours as needed

·         Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned



 An ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in working with student account receivables.   Must be highly organized, know how to prioritize workflow, and excellent customer service skills.  Experience with Ellucian/Colleague is preferred.

Part-time STEM Specialist

The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) STAR Program at Bloomfield College is seeking a part-time STEM Specialist for fall 2017 and spring 2018.   The SSS Program is a federally-funded program that provides academic advisement, tutoring, mentoring, and a wide range of activities geared toward the graduation completion and retention of first-generation, low-income students or students with disabilities.


Please note: Subject areas needed include all levels of math, natural sciences, business, economics, nursing, and accounting. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience tutoring math, statistics, biology and/or chemistry.


Hours needed:  Weekday and Saturdays as needed.

Admission Counselor

Job Summary:  Reporting directly to the Director of Admission and Assistant Director of Admission for New Jersey recruitment, the Admission Counselor is responsible for the recruitment of freshmen and transfer students to Bloomfield College. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits freshmen and transfer students to the day full and part-time programs and maintains oversight of one, New Jersey-based recruitment territory as assigned by the Director of Admission and Assistant Director of Admission.
  • Reviews applications and makes admission decisions based on Bloomfield College admission policies.
  • Makes periodic reports to the Director of Admission on the status of recruitment and the current enrollment of undergraduate students at Bloomfield College.
  • Travels to high school and community based organizations and businesses as well as college fairs to recruit students.
  • Conducts Admission and Financial Aid presentations and on-site visits.
  • Maintains office hours during which time he/she is available to interview students, review applications, evaluate pertinent documentation and make admission decisions on assigned student applications.
  • Maintain contact with applicants utilizing all available communication tools to ensure completion of the application and to increase yield of accepted students.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with high school and other guidance counselors/officers.
  • Assist in the preparation of and participate in all on-campus recruiting events.
  • Maintain event RSVP lists and confirm student attendance at admission events.
  • Counsel students and their families on programs and services available at Bloomfield College.
  • This position requires extensive travel in the fall and spring.
  • Position requires working some evenings and any weekend enrollment management events.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requires BA/BS degree and a minimum of one-year admissions experience. The candidate must have a valid driver's license and own a car that can be used for recruitment travel. Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to quickly learn and utilize proprietary educational software, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, basic math ability, and excellent problem-solving skills. Individual should have good people skills with the ability to help people feel at ease. Must function comfortably in a team structure and be able to speak before large and small groups with confidence.

Housing Coordinator

Bloomfield College is seeking an innovated, highly motivated, and driven Housing Coordinator for the Office of Residential Education & Housing. This position reports directly to the Director of Residential Education & Housing, Student Affairs, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of campus housing, which includes the room assignments and billing of 600 + students.  It also includes the planning, coordination and implementation of all aspects of the housing assignment processes for freshmen, upperclassmen and international transition program students. This position will also provide the Director with ongoing analysis and data of occupancy/vacancies including trends and forecasting of future terms. The Housing Coordinator needs a strong understanding of database management practically Datatel, Colleague, and Banner. The Housing Coordinator will be involved with the development and implementation of the freshmen housing assignment process and upperclassmen room selection process. Ongoing involvement in data analysis and online process development will be required.

Additionally, the Housing Coordinator with develop and maintain the operations calendar, which includes assisting in managing all assignment cycles during peak periods during the academic year. The Housing Coordinator will become the department's liaison for specialty populations such as (but not limited to) Athletics, ITPS, Disability Resource Center, Summer Conferencing/Housing, etc. The Housing Coordinator must possess enthusiasm for higher education and a commitment to the mission and goals of the College through their dedication to customer service. The Housing Coordinator provides indirect supervision and management to the resident directors, graduate assistant and resident advisors. This position carries significant responsibility because of the critical need to ensure a standard of excellence in customer service for students. The Housing Coordinator serves as a College retention agent by reaching out to and assisting students who are having difficulties in housing or contemplating leaving the College.

The Housing Coordinator position serves on a crisis management duty rotation and is also responsible for assisting the Director with the overall management of the department and attends to all major Residential Education events/meetings in the absence of the Director.

The Housing Coordinator responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Manage all aspects of the housing assignments process which includes waitlist, single request, ADA accommodations, withdrawals and room changes.

Ensure that the billing administration and damage charges for all residents are completed on a semester basis.

Coordinates and manages all room change process and withdrawal process in collaboration with the building Resident Director.

Maintains and provides housing statistical data each semester including administering the Spring Intent process to retain for the Fall as well as the annual residential Student Opinion Survey.

Responsible for the development and implementation of the Spring Housing Selection Process.

Assists with Open Houses, New Student Registration Days and other Campus-wide events when necessary.

Supervises building(s) openings and closings at the beginning and end of each academic year, scheduled break periods and summer conferences.

Maintain an accurate inventory of all keys, equipment, supplies, and furniture within the residence halls.

Requests maintenance and custodial repairs and insure their completion in a timely manner.

Prepares all required reports, records and evaluations promptly and accurately as assigned.

Establish and maintain a positive working and collaborative relationship with Residence Life Central Office Staff, custodial staff, physical plant staff, and staff from other offices and departments within the Division of Student Affairs and the College.

Regularly participate in campus events which may include speakers, programs and late night/weekend campus events.

Participate in rotation of on-call responsibilities for the Office of Residential Education and Housing.

Complete other assignments and duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Education and Housing or his/her designee.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with at least three years’ experience working in Residence Life required; Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Education, Counseling, or Higher Education preferred. The position requires excellent written and verbal communication, organization, customer service problem solving skills and supervisory skills with a commitment to student development. Candidate must have expertise in data entry, report and data analysis, advising of diverse student groups and working with minority, non-traditional and international students. Individuals who are able to work in a continuously changing organization and are highly motivated are best suited for this position.

ESL Instructor for the American Language Center

Basic Function:

The ESL instructors are part-time positions within the American Language Center at the Office of International Training and Professional Studies (ITPS) at Bloomfield College. Maximum 29 hours of teaching per week. Our ESL program offers small classes with customized instruction. There are 6 ESL levels and classes run for 8 week sessions year-round. We offer an integrated teaching approach in our program. We have daytime/evening sessions.

Primary Responsibilities:

·     Classroom management

·     Utilizing appropriate standardized ESL curriculum, incorporating a variety of materials and teaching techniques to enhance student learning and outcomes, and to maintain student interest

·     Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes and age groups

·     Preparing and setting tests, examination papers, and exercises

·     Marking and providing appropriate feedback on oral and written work

·     Maintaining cooperative relationships and open communication with all staff and students

·     Assisting students with improving proficiencies in basic skills

·     Maintaining confidentiality of student records, personal information and organizational information at all times

·     Counseling individual students on academic progress

·     Participating in marketing and cultural events for the language school

·     Organizing and getting involved in social and cultural activities

·     Basic administration, such as keeping student progress and attendance records


·     MA in related field plus 2 years’ experience teaching/teaching certificate from any state/or TEFL/TESOL certification

·     Speaker of English

·     Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·     Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

·     Keen attention to detail

·     Ability to provide effective follow-up on individual activities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

·     Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams

·     Track record of being able to produce work in a timely manner with flexibility when necessary to adapt to changing work conditions
